Choosing and Using Your Team Colors

Your team colors are what make every video unmistakably yours. Getting them exactly right takes about two minutes.

Find Your Exact Colors

Don't eyeball it — use the exact hex codes (like #1D428A). You'll usually find them in:

  • Your school or team's official brand / style guide
  • Your athletics department's published colors
  • Your logo file (open it in a design tool and read off the color values)

Why Hex Codes Matter

“Close enough” isn't close enough. A slightly-off blue looks wrong the moment it sits next to your logo. Exact hex codes keep every graphic perfectly consistent — and consistency is what makes content look professional.

Have a Primary and a Secondary

Most teams use two colors: a primary (your dominant color) and a secondary (an accent). Have both ready so templates that use two colors look right.

A Quick Legibility Tip

Make sure text always contrasts with what's behind it — light text on dark backgrounds, dark text on light. If a color combination is hard to read on your screen, it'll be worse on a video board.

Add Them to Your Brand Kit

Enter your colors once in your Brand Kit and every template you customize pulls them automatically — no re-typing hex codes each time.
